Create a resource calendar in Google Workspace
In Google Workspace a meeting room is described by a calendar resource: it gets a calendar of its own, and that is where the meetings land. This is the calendar UnSpot links to the meeting room. This article covers creating the resource on the Google side. Connecting the finished calendar to a space is described separately, see the link at the end.
What you will need
- Access to the Google Admin console. Calendar resources can only be configured by a Google Workspace super administrator or by an administrator who has been granted the matching privileges.
- The list of meeting rooms you want to connect: a separate resource is created for each of them.
- The Google account that will be used for the synchronisation with UnSpot. It has to be given the rights to manage the calendars you create — that is a separate step after the resources exist.
Step 1. Create a building
Resources in Google Workspace live inside buildings, so a building comes first. Sign in to the Google Admin console and choose Buildings and resources > Manage resources on the dashboard. Then go to Open > Buildings > Add.
Fill in the required fields and click Add — the building is created.
Note: in the floors field list the names of the floors separated by commas — for example 1, 2, 3. Meeting rooms are not entered here: each one is added as a separate resource at the next step. Add the description and the office address if you need them.
Step 2. Add a meeting room resource
Once the building is set up, add a new resource. In the Manage resources section choose Resources > Add new resource, fill in the required fields and click Add resource.
The resource is created. Clicking the resource you have just created opens its details.
Repeat the step for every meeting room you plan to connect to UnSpot.
The resource card
The resource card contains a link to the resource calendar. The resource name and the email address shown on the card can be used to add the resource to an event or to subscribe to its calendar.

What comes next
The next step on the Google side is to give the account that will run the synchronisation the rights to manage the calendars you created: Prepare Google calendar to work with UnSpot. Without those rights the calendar does not appear in the list during the connection.
After that the calendar is linked to the meeting room in UnSpot. In the admin panel that is Manage → Office management → Workspaces, the Connect calendar button on the meeting room row. Step by step — in Connect a Google Workspace calendar to a meeting room.
